Chair from Sunil

One of the cutest things ever is watching kids open presents.  As much as they love getting them, parents and family love giving them.  Sunil (Kalp's bro) gave Shoriya a small plastic chair as a gift recently for her birthday.  It filled a hole in our portfolio of toys for Shori for sure and now she has a throne where she can bark out orders for mom and dad.

Soccer class

Shoriya just started soccer classes at Chelsea Piers.  It's consistent with us encouraging tomboy-like behavior.   She' got the dribbling down.  If she can stop using her hands on the field, we could see her being recruited for the varsity pre-school team.  Hahaha.  She definitely got her athletic skills from her mom.

The Zoo

We took Shori to the zoo for her birthday and she loved it.  We (okay, maybe just me) have of course have been teaching her various animal sounds and she was able to hear the real thing in real time.   My favorite is the monkey.

Happy birthday!

Shoriya turns 2 on Tuesday!  Since her 1st birthday was such an event, it had to be more low key this year.  We went out to dinner at the ever-so-kid-friendly Landmarc-Time Warner Center.  She's growing up so fast...

Here she is singing happy birthday to herself and then telling us how old she is, where she lives, etc.

We sang happy birthday to her and then ate some icre cream, cotton candy and caramels at Landmarc.  Since birthdays come once a year, we bent Shori's diet rules a bit.  Thankfully, it doesn't seem like cotton candy is her thang.

After dinner, we went to the March Madness booth.  Shori dunked the ball so hard that she broke the backboard!  Shaq would have been proud.  After she calmed down a bit, she played pass the ball with one of the guys who worked there.  Next stop...Final Four in 2026.   I am joking about the backboard part.

Brush...your...teeth!

This one is a personal favorite.   Kalp and I know that getting her to brush her teeth in the future is going to be an exercise in patience.  Right now, she loves brushing her teeth because of a fun song we created (I'll let you know when the record deal comes through).  But, how long is this song going to work???  So, I could think of no better way for her to commit to lifelong teeth brushing than getting it on video.  We'll have to use this file in the future any time we get push back!
