Modern Dance in the Park

As a student of modern dance myself, I really appreciated this moment.  Shori busted out in a very artistic improvised routine that was celebrating the nice weather that day.  We don't let her watch TV, so it's either the other kids in the class OR any combination of a dance routine she saw on Backyardigans/Dora/Super Why.

The Rules

As Shoriya is getting older, we've had to come up with a set of rules.  Governance has not been easy in the Bhat-Bhandarkar household.  Following these rules are typically not a problem.  However in many cases, they are broken just to be broken.  The hard part is not laughing when she does it.

Here are the rules (drum roll please...)

1.   No crying
2.   No whining
3.   No hitting
4.   No pushing
5.   Hold hands
6.   No running unless it's soccer, hockey or basketball
7.   No screaming
8.   Share
9.   Say 'please' when you want something
10. Say 'thank you' when someone gives something to you
11. Brush your teeth every morning and night
12. No spitting
13. Lollipops only on the weekends

There are more.  Consider this a running list.  And add'l rule suggestions are welcome!

Big time backlog over here.  The Shoriya.com staff just can't keep up with the footage being generated by writer/director/producer duo, daddy and mommy.  While the last few months are being processed, this video below at Central Park last weekend just had to be shared.  This was Shoriya's first live street concert and she loved it!  Everyone elses' timing was off, so they didn't participate in what was supposed to be a flash mob.

Either catching the beat skips a generation or she learned this from her mom.

Dancing with the Stars

Actually, this is one more about dancing with the dolls.  Shori loves Bollywood music and the second Sadi Gali came on, she grabbed Dolly and started to break it down.  Dolly was definitely dizzy after some of these fast moves.  I'm sure we'll see this in some choreography down the road at weddings, diwali parties, culture shows, etc.

Angry Birds

As most kids, Shori is obsessed with the iPad and Angry Birds ("Ongee Budds") is one of her favorite apps.  While she does get around to playing the game, it's the music she enjoys the most.  Check out these dance moves!
